Mindfulness in Midlife
**Course begins April 4, 2022**
As a woman in midlife, we have sooo many things pulling us in so many different directions.
Our kids are teens or have left the house and need our help to become the amazing adults we know they can be.
Our parents are aging and the burden of care is falling to us.
Our marriages/partnerships are changing and we have to learn to change with them.
Our jobs/financial status is changing and we start to need to make a more solid plan for the future.
The burden of care in midlife can be amazingly stressful and then add on top of that menopause, weight gain, and our own health issues, and our stress levels go through the roof!
At this point in life particularly we must learn to deal with the day-to-day stressors before they take a massive toll on our health.
Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your body, mind, breath, and environment, in a non-judging way, to bring awareness to the present moment.
Mindfulness may have many benefits such as:
- reducing depression and anxiety
- improving memory, focus, and cognition
- lowering blood pressure
- reducing pain
- improving sleep
and many, many more things.
I Can’t Meditate!
Sure you can! Many people worry that their minds are too busy for meditation. We will explore different kinds of meditation and be kind to ourselves and each other and meet ourselves where we are with our body and practice right now.
Meditation is about being aware of the present moment…everyone’s mind wanders! The key is to notice it and to bring it back to the present.
I will guide you and provide you with as little or as much support as you need to feel successful in this practice.
We are not looking to be perfect. We are looking to make a change in how our bodies respond to stress so that we can minimize the negatives effects of stress.
Isn't Meditation Woo-Woo?
It can be, but we will focus on the benefits of mindfulness for our bodies and minds so that we can be the people our families and friends need us to be through the ever-changing times of midlife.
The only prerequisite for this class is an open and willing mind.

Week 12 - Review & Goal Setting for Next Quarter
This course will be video-based with printable support materials.
